Oriana M. Damas, MD, advises trainees and faculty who are starting to provide care for patients with ulcerative colitis to look for subtle manifestations of the disease beyond superficial appearance. Dr Damas also stresses that new faculty and community GI doctors should be comfortable with asking questions and take time to discuss treatment decision-making with colleagues.
