Lenard A. Adler, MD, addresses the unmet needs in the management of ADHD in adults, highlighting that the first step is making the diagnosis because so many adults with ADHD are left untreated.
Dr Adler also focuses on the need for clinicians to take a closer look at the accessory symptoms of ADHD, such as executive-function deficits and emotional dyscontrol. Because these symptoms may persist after pharmacotherapy, Dr Adler advises clinicians to consider cognitive-behavioral therapy to help decrease the symptoms of adult ADHD.
