Preprints, scientific papers that have not been peer reviewed for publication in a journal, became more prominent during the COVID-19 pandemic, as researchers and physicians sought to share information about the novel disease as quickly as possible.
In addition to writing about significant preprints when they are newsworthy for physicians, Medscape has been summarizing preprints in a new section called "First Look."
