Dr Colvin is board certified in advanced heart failure, heart transplant, and mechanical circulatory support, and has practiced as an advanced heart failure specialist for more than 15 years. She is the clinical specialist for heart transplant for the Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients, where she is involved in the evaluation and development of national allocation policy. In addition, Dr Colvin has participated in research trials investigating the management of heart failure, novel left ventricular assist devices, and new diagnostics in heart transplant. Her scholarly work focuses on detecting cardiac allograft vasculopathy and evaluating allocation policies. She has chaired the Heart Failure/Transplant Council for the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation, and has participated in multiple scientific statements and guideline-writing committees, including those of the American Heart Association and the Heart Failure Society of America.

Jacob Joseph, MBBS, MD, FACC

Dr Joseph has advocated for the comprehensive care of veterans with heart failure in the Greater Boston area for more than 15 years. As director of the Heart Failure Program at VA Boston Healthcare, he leads a new initiative that will offer mechanical circulatory support and, in collaboration with Brigham & Women's Hospital, heart transplant to veterans with advanced heart failure in the Northeastern United States. Dr Joseph has written more than 100 research publications, review articles, editorials, and book chapters. His article, published in the American Journal of the Medical Sciences, received the 2020 Tinsley Harrison Award. As senior author of the translational study, he was recognized for his research on the effects of vasopressin antagonism on cardiac fibrosis, a major driver of heart failure.

Dr Rao, a cardiovascular disease specialist for more than 18 years, is also board certified in internal medicine. He is the supervisor and coordinator of cardiac rehabilitation services for patients at Genesys Regional Medical Center. As a member of the accountable care organization's Congestive Heart Failure Committee, he has contributed to updates of heart failure order sets and clinical pathways for inpatient and outpatient admissions, and has provided recommendations for reduction of hospital readmissions for patients with advanced heart failure. Dr Rao says the most rewarding aspect of his work is connecting with patients and guiding them through their care process.
