The Georgetown University Department of Family Medicine's mission is to provide a model of excellence in family medicine, primary care, and community health to medical students, residents, fellows, and other healthcare professionals that encourages the provision of personalized, evidence-based, patient-centered care in a medical home model, with special emphasis on care to the underserved.

Expert Panel

Kenny Lin, MD, MPH Kenny Lin, MD, MPH is professor of family medicine at Georgetown University School of Medicine. He is deputy editor of American Family Physician. Dr Lin is a graduate of Harvard University, the New York University School of Medicine, and the Johns Hopkins University (master of public health). He completed a family medicine residency at Lancaster General Hospital and a fellowship in medical editing and faculty development at Georgetown University School of Medicine. Dr Lin was previously a medical officer at the Agency for Healthcare Research & Quality, supporting the activities of the US Preventive Services Task Force. He previously chaired the Subcommittee on Clinical Practice Guidelines of the American Academy of Family Physicians' Commission on the Health of the Public and Science. He has worked in a variety of clinical practice settings and currently sees patients at MedStar Health Center–Family Medicine at Spring Valley in Washington, DC.

Ranit Mishori, MD, MHS Ranit Mishori, MD, MHS is professor of family medicine at Georgetown University School of Medicine. She practices full-spectrum family medicine, including obstetrics, in both inpatient and outpatient settings. She is an attending physician at Georgetown University–Providence Hospital and sees patients several times a week at MedStar Health Center–Family Medicine at Spring Valley, Washington, DC. Dr Mishori is a graduate of the Georgetown University School of Medicine and the Georgetown University–Providence Hospital Family Medicine Residency, and holds a master's degree in international health from the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health. She is a full-time faculty member at the Georgetown University School of Medicine, where she leads the Department of Family Medicine's global health initiatives. She has worked abroad extensively over the past two decades on a variety of projects as a journalist and as a healthcare provider and teacher. Dr Mishori's areas of interest include health and human rights, refugee health, health disparities, global health education, public health, and health communications.
