She tells you that she has had multiple elevated blood pressure readings (average, 145/94 mm Hg) recorded in other settings, including screen clinics and grocery store machines, since her last visit with you a couple of years ago. You confirm the elevated readings in your evaluation today and a subsequent follow-up visit. You would like to start her on medication.
Her medical history is significant for osteoarthritis, both basal and squamous cell skin cancer, migraine, and early macular degeneration. She is not taking any prescription medications. She reports occasional over-the-counter use of ibuprofen to treat pain.
